If you are familiar with the popular American series Mad Men, you would surely have fallen under the charm of the show’s timelessly elegant women: bold, independent and beautiful, they are role models as much as they are beauty icons. This look is a hot trend for the fall, so we just couldn’t resist spoiling you with a little makeup tutorial. Follow these beauty tips and get ready to rock this fun, feminine 1960s look!

You will need
A matte foundation, like Chanel Mat Lumière Long Lasting Luminous Matte Fluid Makeup SPF 15, £33.00 (3)
A face powder: we like Revlon Colorstay Pressed Powder, approx £11.00 (2)
An eyebrow pencil: we recommend Bare Escentuals bareMinerals Brow Color, £11.00
Liquid eyeliner: try Shu Uemura Liquid Eyeliner Pen in Black, £11.50 (4)
False eyelashes: go for MAC 1 Lash false lashes, £10.00 (1)
A pink blush: Mineral Cheek Powder by Laura Mercier, £26.00, comes in lusciously light pinks
A matte deep red or pink lipstick: we love Nars Pure Matte Lipstick in Mascate, £18.50

Step 1: face. This look calls for perfect matte skin, so smooth your skin with a layer of matte foundation and follow up with a face powder for a flawless complexion.

Step 2: eyebrows. For this look, a well-groomed brow is important. Fill your eyebrows in whilst keeping them as natural as possible. Do not overwork them, as you do not want your brows to be too strong for this look.

Step 3: eyes. Prime your eyelids and create a winged look with black liquid eyeliner: start by tracing a thin line across your upper eyelid, and lightly flick it upwards at the outer corner of your eye by following the angle of your lower lash line. Thicken the line as you go for the perfect Joan Harris-inspired cat eye.
Thicken your lashes with mascara, which you can apply by rocking from side to side for a fuller effect. You can also add drama with dense false lashes, making sure they follow the shape of your eyeliner.

Step 4: blush. Perfect your Betty Draper look with a light pink blush that works with your skin tone. Apply it to the apples of your cheeks for a healthy and fresh effect.

Step 5: lips. For the perfect 60s pout, a matte lipstick is essential. Whether you opt for a full-on red or a more subtle pink, make sure it matches the rest of your outfit. To create a flawless shape, outline your lips with a lip liner before applying the lipstick. We think it’s best to stick to the shape of your lips for a more natural look.

Have fun, experiment and adapt this look to suit your features. Pair it with polished nails and big curls, and you’re good to go! Just remember the key words: impeccable, sleek and sophisticated!

What will your take be on this stunning look?
